Another Martin Kearney story
I flew from Perth to Kununurra to install physical termite barriers on the new aged care ward at the Kununurra Hospital. The job wasn’t ready when I arrived so I decided to become a tourist for a few days.
The highlight of the trip was the evening river boat tour, I saw all the croc’s I ever wanted to see in my life in and along the Ord River!!
Anyway back to work everything went well on the job installing the new termite barrier for a couple of days then we had another hold up in construction for another couple of days. So back to being a tourist again I had to fly back to Perth on the following Friday but I realised I booked the flight back for tomorrow whoops! Luckily I had only a small part of the termite barrier to complete and again luckily the concreter said all was ready to go. So at 2pm that day I started the last of the termite barrier installation knowing I had to catch the flight back to Perth the next morning I kept working almost in the dark relying on the lights on the outside of the hospital – only 6 metres to go to finish the job.
Whoops I stumbled and shot the skin off the side of my thumb with a nail gun, well lucky I was at the right place to have it looked at. The nurses where great, bandaged me up and held a torch for me to finish so I could finish off the termite barrier and made the flight back to Perth the next morning even had a couple of scotches to ease the pain!
Some people have noticed my odd looking thumb I just say to them it’s a long story. Many thanks to fantastic nursing staff at the Kununurra Hospital
